Living and dying in hospital

In 2009 I was rushed to Fundación Jiménez Díaz hospital in Madrid and stayed 6 weeks. These are some of the images that resonate with my state of mind about the people visiting patients or the patients themselves.

Hospitals are a very interesting microcosm of care, love, fear, boredom, loneliness and despair, it all can be felt at once and within seconds. Hospitals are also like hotels, a gathering place for patients, family and friends, who visit with food, flowers, books and stories, there is always something to be told.

Within the different floors and departments they are worlds apart, from a family planning visit to intensive care, from leaving home thinking about a beautiful future to a roller coaster of emotions, grief and despair.
